BENTON, Mo. - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Sikeston man is in custody for felony domestic assault, resisting arrest, and traffic offenses.

51 year-old James Ramsey was arrested by deputies shortly after the Sikeston Department of Public Safety transferred a 911 call that had been received at their agency.

It was reported that Ramsey had assaulted the caller, Christina Simmons, and left the scene in a tan GMC truck. Scott County Deputy Carl Rose observed the suspect vehicle on Ingram Road, turned around, and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. Ramsey initially failed to stop for the deputy, and drove his pickup over the barrier at the complex on North Ingram Road near the rodeo grounds. He was then arrested and taken to the Scott County Jail.

Simmons received medical treatment for a fractured nose, contusions, abrasions, and bruised kidneys.
