DRAFFENVILLE, Ky. - At the Funky Monkey Pottery Company in Draffenville, owner Jackie Frazier is hoping Small Business Saturday, brings a stroke of good luck.

"Anything that can promote small business is wonderful," she said.

She's been in business for five years - and like many small business owners - she's had her ups and downs. Frazier said what separates her from the big box stores are the original, hand-made gifts you can't get anywhere else.

"To come in and create something yourself and be able to give someone a personalized gift. I mean, I think that's awesome," Frazier said.

Just down the road at Sullivan's Boutique, owner Janice Sullivan is keeping busy with the constant foot traffic. She said since Small Business Saturday started three years ago, business is picking up and shoppers are picking out outfits even before the weekend sales.

"People brought up the small business shopping day. As a small business, we really appreciate the customers taking the time and shop for the small business," Sullivan said.

Both believe the shop small push helps bring in new business and it gives them a financial boost during what's typically the busiest, big box store shopping weekend of the year.
