Southern Illinois man accused of running over pedestrians
CARBONDALE, Ill. - A southern Illinois man faces charges after police say he struck three people with his car, then fled the scene.
Carbondale Police say 24-year-old Jamonta McKnight, of Herrin, was driving a blue Chevrolet Tahoe on South Illinois Avenue around 2:40 a.m. Friday when he struck the legs of three people who were sitting on the curb.
Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested McKnight after he continued driving northbound.
The victims were taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with non-life threatening injuries.
McKnight was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Crash and Failure to Exercise Due Care. He was booked into the Jackson County Jail.
