MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. - Traffic will stop temporarily on the Eggner's Ferry Bridge on Friday afternoon.

The halt in traffic will start around 3 p.m. and should last about 10-15 minutes, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Crews will prepare for construction of a new bridge. A contractor has placed several hundred tons of weight on top of a piling. An explosive charge will be detonated, which will cause the load to bounce.

Sensors on the piling will gather data that will be used during the design of footers for the main bridge piers.
