Three injured in Piedmont shooting

PIEDMONT, MO - A suspect is in custody following a shooting that happened in Piedmont, Missouri.

It happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday morning at the intersection of Elm and Forest Street. Jonathan C. Elliot used a shotgun and injured three people. Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that only two of the victims had gunshot wounds, but the third's injuries are unknown at this time.

The two victims that were shot were airlifted to a Cape Girardeau, Missouri hospital. The third was driven by ambulance to a hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Corporal Clarke Parrott believes the injuries sustained by all victims are non-life threatening.

Elliot was apprehended on US 67 Route DD in St. Francis County at approximately 2:30 p.m. by troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He is currently being questioned at this time and will be transported back to Wayne County.
