UNION CITY, Tenn. — Inside a little dress shop on the corner of South First, you will find it all: excitement, agitation and full-on panic.

That is why camera crews from Lifetime Television spent six weeks documenting every moment.

"I think this is our chance, our chance to tell our story," Paige Burchman-Carlton, the owner of Joann's said Wednesday.

Carlton doubles as a designer and a lot of what is displayed in her store is her own creation. Those dresses and her sassy attitude first got her noticed by producers on a trip to Chicago.

Carlton has a personality as sparkling as her dresses and one-liners to boot.

"As far as I am concerned, when in doubt, bling it out," she told one customer.

But is Carlton really like that? And are the customers really as outrageous as they appear?

"I promise you all of this happened," store manager Jared Hamlin said.

Hamlin spends six days a week finding solutions and perfect dresses.

"Most clients aren't happy until you try on dress number 43," he said.

But Carlton said those customers and the unique dresses are what her business is all about. It is also what Lifetime believes will make great television.

The series is slated for just one season and premieres April 5 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.

Producers wanted to send the cast and crew to New York City for the premiere.  But the staff at Joann's opted to hold the event in Union City instead.
