UNION COUNTY, Ill. - The Union County, Illinois State's Attorney is warning seniors of a scam involving unsolicited callers asking for bank account information.

State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds says scammers have been calling local seniors claiming that someone has paid for a medical alert service. The catch is that the intended victim needs to pay for the shipping costs. The scammer then asks for credit card and bank account information.

Edmonds is reminding people to never give personal information such as Social Security numbers or account information over the phone unless you are sure who is on the other end of the line.
