CAIRO, Ill. - More details could be coming out today on the weekend fire at an abandoned building in Cairo, Illinois.

The state Fire Marshal's office is expecting to release preliminary report on the possible cause.

The fire happened in Cairo early Sunday morning.

The city has been plagued by a string of arsons over the past two years, however it is not yet known what caused this one.

The flames leveled the building at 8th and Ohio streets.

Neighbors say just the thought that it could be arson upsets them.

"It makes you think because like I said it had been so quiet here with the fires since they caught the guys. It had been quiet and then all the sudden this breaks out so you never know," said resident Thurston Pettigrew.

Earlier this year two Cairo volunteer firefighters pleaded guilty to setting two fires.

According to the Southeast Missourian they were both sentenced to probation.
