Noah Bond can be found reporting in the 10:00 p.m. newscast Wednesday through Friday and anchoring the regions only 9:00 p.m. newscast on the weekends. You can find it on KBSI. He joined WPSD in December 2006 and has loved every day on the job. “WPSD is probably the finest organization I have ever worked for. There is a real emphasis on breaking news and getting the most in depth information to empower our family and friends in the community, ” Bond said.
The Kentucky Associated Press recently honored Noah for his investigative and spot news coverage. He used a hidden camera to reveal a widespread disregard for the smoking ban in Illinois. His story opened the eyes of local leaders and helped those in support and against the ban take another look at the controversial law. His coverage of a growing sink hole in Herrin, IL also earned a top honor among his professional peers in Kentucky.
He worked for KIDK and KIFI in Idaho prior to coming to WPSD. He served at the Pocatello Bureau Chief and weekend anchor.
His first job took him to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he worked for KDLT. He recalls his most memorable story there, "Hours after a tornado flattening Manchester, South Dakota I stood on the shredded remnants to report the story. Crews eventually bulldozed the debris in a pile to burn it. I am just glad no one died."
Noah's work is also honored by the Society of Professional Journalists for a story about BYU head football coach legend Lavell Edwards called "BYU Football: Then and Now". The Idaho Press Club honored Noah is 2006 for a story which aired on CNN Headline News about a cat that clung to the top of its clueless owners car at 75 miles per hour on the interstate. The cat survived unscathed.
Noah graduated from Brigham Young University in 2002 where he majored in broadcast journalism. Prior to earning his journalism degree, he served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Carlsbad, California. You can e-mail Noah at NBond@wpsdlocal6.com.
