Marissa Hollowed anchors the 4:30 a.m. hour of Local 6 Today and anchors and reports throughout the 5 and 6 a.m. hours of Local 6 Today.
Marissa was born and raised in Glen Ellyn, IL, a western suburb of Chicago. Marissa is proud to be a Windy City gal- she roots for the Bears and often times pronounces the word "mom" like "maaahm."
Marissa spent the first 18 years of her life in Chicago before heading to Columbia, Missouri where she attended the University of Missouri. Go Tigers! In college, Marissa worked for KOMU-TV (NBC station) as an anchor, reporter and multi-media journalist. This is where Marissa learned to shoot, write and edit all of her own stories.
In college, Marissa also worked as a reporter for KBIA 91.3FM (NPR station) and for the cable station Current TV and Current.com as a representative.
Her senior year of college, Marissa landed an internship with NBC News in New York City. She worked for the TODAY Show, Nightly News with Brian Williams, Dateline and MSNBC. Between seeing celebrities in the hallways and actually getting the chance to work with them, Marissa had the time of her life and learned a lot about the television business. Her favorite memory? Showing up early on Fridays to watch the TODAY concert series on the Plaza.
Broadcasting has lead Marissa to meet some truly fantastic people and experience things she never thought she would.
Most importantly, it lead her to WPSD Local 6, and she is thrilled to stay in the NBC family.
Marissa is enjoying the southern hospitality she's seen here!
