Cape Girardeau County to hold public hearing on speed limit reductions
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- The Cape Girardeau County Commission is holding 3 public meetings to discuss a proposal that would lower speed limits on 45 roads throughout Cape Girardeau County
The speed limit would be reduced from the current limit of 60 miles an hour to either 25, 35, or 40 miles per hour.
After a presentation by the county commission, the public will be allowed an opportunity to ask questions about the proposal and present comments.
The first hearing will be held on July 5th at 9:00 a.m. in the Cape Girardeau County Commission Chambers, which is inside the Cape Girardea County Administrative Building at #1 Barton square in Jackson Missouri. Another meeting will be held in that same location on July 12th, also at 9:00 a.m.
On July 10th, a hearing will be held at 1:00 a.m. at the Cape Special Road District Office, at 120 Warson Street in Cape Girardeau Missouri.
Under the proposal, the speed limits would be changed as follows:
Reduced to 25 MPH
Reduced to 35 MPH
Reduced to 40 MPH
