MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. — The Confederate flag can conjure up some pretty deep emotions, but one group says they are flying it to remember their heritage.

The 'Sons of Confederate Veterans' hoisted the flag Saturday morning on a piece of private property next to Traders Mall off of Interstate-24 in McCracken County, Kentucky.   The group says it is a reminder of what their ancestors went through during the Civil War.  However, opponents believe it brings about hatred and racism.

"This flag is against everything I stand for because it represents a group of people trying to maintain slavery," Gladman Humbles said.

"That is what the US is for, freedom.  Freedom to choose.  Everybody has the right to decide either way," Steven Thompson added.

Tonight on WPSD Local 6 At 10 we'll have more on the event and hear from many of you about whether you support or oppose the flag on display.
