Police make arrest in deadly stabbing outside area bar
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Police arrested a local man Friday, charging with second degree murder in connection with an early morning stabbing at a bar.
Ryan Harkey, 23, of Jackson, faces the charge after Cape Girardeau Police say he stabbed another man after an argument.
Police said the incident happened after an argument broke out between several people at Rumors Bar & Lounge around 1 a.m. Employees managed to get the people out of the bar but the argument continued and one man stabbed another several times in the chest.
The victim, 25-year-old Jerry D. Conrad, attempted to get away but collapsed a few dozen yards away on the lawn of the Common Pleas Court House.
Cape Girardeau Coroner John Clifton pronounced Conrad dead at a local hospital a short time later.
An autopsy on Conrad is pending.
