Man arrested, charged for robbery of almost 300 Oxycodone pills
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo - The Cape Girardeau Police Department arrested a man for felony pharmacy robbery in the first degree and felony armed criminal action.
Ward forcibly stole approximately 300 Oxycodone pills and cash from various convenience stores and a Walgreen's Monday, December 2nd.
At the Walgreen's at approximately 7:30 a.m., Ward handed the Pharmacy staff a yellow piece of paper demanding pain pills and instructed the staff to "read it and not say anything" while also armed with a 9mm automatic handgun.
He is also cited as having committed armed robbery at several other convenience stores and pharmacies while armed with the same handgun: first robbing a "Break Time" in Poplar Bluff, Mo. for cash; then a "Murphy USA" in Dexter, Mo for cash; then the Walgreen's for prescription pills.
Ward's vehicle was located and found with $1,022 in cash as well as 278 Oxycodone pills. A 9mm automatic handgun was found in the driver's side door map holder with one round in the chamber.
Ward is being held on $250,000 bond.
