Oran, Mo. teen charged in sexual abuse investigation

BENTON, Mo. - An Oran, Mo. teen is in custody following a sexual abuse investigation.

The Scott County Sheriff's Department charged 17-year-old James C. Griswell with two counts of deviate sexual assault, sexual misconduct in the first degree, and assault in the third degree.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said the Sheriff’s Office began investigating these crimes earlier in the week after several victims came forward to report the crimes. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence in Oran.  The search warrant was served Wednesday afternoon and numerous articles related to the crimes were seized.

Sheriff Walter said the investigation is ongoing and expects additional charges to be filed.

Griswell remains in the Scott County Jail with a $25,000.00 cash only bond.
