Police: One dead after two people shot in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - One man is dead and another person wounded after a shooting in Cape Girardeau on Thursday night.

The shooting occurred near the corner of S. Sprigg St. and Locust St.

One victim, 38-year-old Darcus T. Purl of Cape Girardeau, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other victim, a 34-year-old who also lives in Cape Girardeau, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the incident.

The shooting occurred around 9:00 Thursday night. 

There is no word on the extent of the injuries suffered by the victims.  Police did not say if any suspects were in custody at this time.
