CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — An Illinois prison inmate who admitted killing nine women in four states is facing new charges in neighboring Kentucky linked to a 1978 incident.

The Southeast Missourian reports that a grand jury in Kentucky's McCracken County has indicted 67-year-old Timothy Krajcir of first-degree sexual abuse, kidnapping, burglary and robbery.

Those counts stem from an incident on New Year's Day 1978.

Krajcir is serving an 80-year sentence for two killings in southern Illinois. He also has received life sentences for five killings in southeast Missouri. Most of those crimes took place in the late 1970s or early 1980s.

He's been in prison since 1983 for other sex crimes and confessed to the murders after receiving assurances he wouldn't face the death penalty.
