Bond hearing for terrorism case suspect postponed

Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) - A federal magistrate judge has postponed a hearing on whether to set bond for one of two men charged with planning a terrorist attack on a Danish newspaper.

A detention hearing for Chicago grocer and immigration counselor Tahawwur Hussain Rana had been set for Thursday. But U.S. Magistrate Judge Nan Nolan moved it back to Dec. 2. The reason was not immediately clear.

Rana and David Headley are accused of planning to attack the newspaper Jyllands Posten in retaliation for published cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. The cartoons of the prophet ignited outrage in much of the Muslim world.

Both men remain in federal custody.
