FANCY FARM, Ky. — The stage is set for what the organizer is calling one of the most important Fancy Farms picnics to date.

"The political speaking is big for us every year," said Todd Hayden.

He anticipates close to 15,000 people will fill the pavilions this year. The main reason: the State Representative and Senate races which are attracting a lot of attention.

"We have some good local races that are going to happen this year, for the local Representative and the local Senate race in the area. We expect that to be a good, heated debate," he said.

"It's always interesting," said Steve Glenn.

It's the politics of it all that drew in Glenn eight years ago.

"It's fun to listen to them get on stage and throw jabs," Glenn said.

He drove from Frankfort to watch the speeches. It has become a tradition for him and his family. And he encourages others to get out and do the same.

"If you've never been here, you should come at least once. Its a heck of a deal," he said.

And if you're looking for a show, Hayden said just listen closely to the politicians, who are known for speaking their minds.

"They'll be debating really well. It's always eventful at the political part of the picnic," Hayden said.
