LEXINGTON, Ky. - Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul will go ahead with a final televised debate after chiding Democrat Jack Conway for questioning his religious faith.
Paul refused to shake Conway's hand after their last debate, and had left open the possibility that he may skip the next scheduled face-off set for Monday night at Kentucky Educational Television in Lexington.
Paul objected to an attack ad that includes an anonymous accusation that Paul, during college, worshipped a god called "Aqua Buddha" and that he was a member of a secret society that mocked Christians.
Paul denounced the claims as false.
Paul and Conway are seeking to replace retiring Senator Jim Bunning, a former major league baseball pitcher who turns 79 on Saturday.
