Controversial construction project complete
TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. - The new Reelfoot Lake Spillway regulates the lake's water levels.
It divided people who live around the lake. Some Kentucky farmers were against it, but those living in Tiptonville, Tennessee supported it. Regardless, the 20 million dollar project, built by the Tennessee Department Of Transportation along State Route 21 in Tiptonville is finished. Locals hope the project will help the area's largest industry.
Right now, sheets of steel are holding back the water while T.D.O.T. tests the lifts gates and sensors.
