Earthquake rumbles part of Local 6 region

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. - Residents in southeastern Missouri, western Tennessee and western Kentucky felt a bit of a rumble late Tuesday night.

The United State Geological Survey reports a magnitude 2.7 earthquake happened around 10:20 p.m.

The epicenter registered east, southeast of Portageville, Missouri.  That's in the New Madrid seismic zone.  According to the U.S.G.S., it's the most seismically active zone in North America east of the Rockies.

At this time, Local 6 is unaware of any damages.
