UNION CITY, Tenn. — A new movie comes out this weekend called "Act of Valor".
It's based on the heroic actions of Navy SEALs. In fact, it even stars a number of Navy SEALs.
Aaron Vaughn, a local member of SEAL Team Six, is one of those real life heroes making his big screen debut but for his family, that debut is very bittersweet. Vaughn won't be around to see the pride in their faces.
Vaughn died when the Taliban shot down his helicopter in Afghanistan. The crash killed 38 people, 15 SEALs among them. It was the largest single loss of U.S. lives since the start of the war in 2001 and the largest single loss of life in SEAL history.
Vaughn left behind a wife and two young children.
His wife's story is featured in the March issue of Redbook.
There are a number of fund-raisers going on to benefit his children, Including Saturday at Hollywood Theater in Union City, where "Act of Valor" is playing. Part of the proceeds from the concession will go a memorial fund.
The family is also selling bracelets, which you can order here.
