Shooting near Tennessee community college forces lockdown

DYERSBURG, Tenn. - New details about the shooting near Dyersburg State Community College say it happened around 2 p.m. Monday.

According to DSCC's website, the shooting happened in the area of Parkview and Lake Road.

The shooter is still on the run.  No word on whether the person is armed.

A SWAT team searched the Glover Building on DSCC's campus for the shooter.  They have since cleared it.

DSCC officials also tell Local 6, investigators are now focusing on leads near Dyersburg High School.

DYERSBURG, Tenn. – A lockdown is in place at a West Tennessee community college.

Dyersburg State Community College officials tell Local 6 a shooting near campus is the reason they put the campus on alert.  They say the lockdown is preventative.

Again, the shooting did not happen on the Dyersburg campus.

College officials also say a SWAT team investigated a lead on campus, but that has since been cleared.

No word on details about the shooting.

Local 6 will release more information as it becomes available.
