Concrete work, site prep on Eggners Ferry Bridge ongoing
TRIGG COUNTY, Ky. — Work on the Eggners Ferry Bridge is moving fast and forging ahead.
On Wednesday, crews continued preparations before the installation of the new span.
Workers poured concrete on some of the bridge piers to cap off the piers.
"They're pouring some pedestals that will help the new steel for the bridge match up with the existing bridge, with the existing span," Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Spokesperson Keith Todd said.
"They obviously have a really tight time schedule," Todd added. "There's a lot of work to be done and a limited amount of time to do it."
The span itself is being constructed at the Eddyville Riverport. It will be put on a barge at a later date and sent down river to be installed in the bridge.
