Lane work beginning on N. Friendship Rd.

PADUCAH - A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to begin work on new turn lanes along KY 1286/North Friendship Rd. at the intersection with US 62/Blandville Road in McCracken County starting on Monday, April 16.

Pre-construction activities during the first week or two will include removal of trees and brush near the construction site, and preliminary drainage work to prepare for the widening and turn lane project.  Motorists can expect an increase in work zone activity, including lane shifts to accommodate the work, the week of April 30, weather permitting.

Motorists should be alert for equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow at this busy intersection just west of West Kentucky Community and Technical College.  Appropriate caution is required in the work zone. The anticipated completion date is October 1.

This intersection is at US 62/Blandville Rd. mile point 10.754 and at the 5 mile marker on KY 1286/North Friendship Rd.

Wilkins, Construction Company, Inc., is the prime contractor on this $596,561 highway improvement project.
