Richard "Shube" Shubrick
Richard "Shube" Shubrick, 54, lost his valiant fight with cancer with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in Murray, Kentucky.
Rick was born June 5, 1957 to Elizabeth Elaine.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Shubrick, as well as his daughters and son-in-laws Kaylen and Jeffery Jackson and Jayme and Jonathan Cisco. He is also survived by his precious granddaughter Alexandra Jackson, his sister Eva Cox and many loved nieces and nephews including Amanda Cox, Alethia Shubrick, Joshua Shubrick, Alyssa Ferber and Rebekah Shubrick.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife Mori Lynn Shubrick, who he is now sharing a seat in Heaven with.
Richard suffered a brain injury in 1982 that gave him a 33% chance to live and if he did, he would never walk or talk again. Not only did he survive, after re-learning how to do even the simplest things, he went on to become an over the road truck driver for many years after working his way up from carpet cleaning, janitorial work and school bus driving. He was never too good for a job. He worked long, hard hours day and night to support his family.
His interests included listening to rock and roll, watching movies and football, and he was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos. He even cleaned John Elway's house.
Rick's laugh and love of life will never be forgotten. He will continue to live in our hearts as a loving and doting father, grandfather, uncle and rock star.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Rick's life, accomplishments and family will be held at his church home, Aurora Baptist Church at 2:00PM Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Aurora, Kentucky.
