KHSAA Issues Penalties for Calloway County vs. Fulton County Football Fight
LEXINGTON – Kentucky High School Athletic Association Commissioner Brigid DeVries has announced that football players from Calloway County and Fulton County High Schools have been penalized for violations of the Association’s Sportsmanship Bylaw (Bylaw 11) following an incident during the October 2, 2009, contest at Fulton County High School.
Local 6 spoke to Fulton County High School principal Wayne Benningfield. Benningfield confirmed Pilots head coach James Bridges has been suspended for the rest of the season for "a combination of events leading up to the altercation."
Assistant head coach Deatrik Kinney will assume the head coaching role the remainder of the season.
According to Benningfield, here is a breakdown of the suspensions for Fulton County:
Fulton County High School will also be forced to pay a $1000 fine.
Benningfield went on to say the Fulton County School System does not condone this incident in any way. "Fulton County is featured in the Commonwealth for high math scores and other positive academic achievments. This is overshadowing it."
