By WPSD Sports

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Athletics will host a gathering for the 2009 NCAA Division I Football Championship Selection Show on Sunday at Copper Dragon. Doors open at 1 p.m.

The Selection Show airs live at 2 p.m. CT on ESPNews. Eight automatic berths, one of which is owned by SIU from winning the 2009 Missouri Valley Football Conference Championship, plus eight at-large teams will be revealed. The playoffs begin with eight first-round games on Saturday, Nov. 28.

The Salukis (9-1, 8-0 MVFC) will be making their seventh-straight playoff appearance and the eighth in program history. SIU's playoff streak is the second longest in the nation, behind Montana's run of 16 consecutive playoff appearances. SIU is currently the No. 1-ranked team in the Sports Network Poll.

Northern Iowa and South Dakota State will also learn Sunday if they receive playoff at-large bids. The MVFC has had at least two teams qualify for the postseason every year since 1994.

Copper Dragon is located on Grand Avenue behind Pinch Penny Pub in Carbondale
