Marshall County introduced their new head football coach Monday evening. Longtime west Kentucky high school assistant Ron Barnard takes over the reigns of the Marshals program.

Barnard spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Campbellsville University under head coach Perry Thomas, the former Paducah Tilghman head coach.

Thomas and Barnard were on staff together at Tilghman from 2002-07.

Before coaching at Tilghman, Barnard had two stints at Graves County as a defensive coordinator, a one-year stop at Mercer County as an assistant head coach and was part of the Mayfield coaching staff when the Cardinals won the 1993 state championship.

His coaching career started as an assistant at Murray State, where he graduated, back in 1992.

He inherits a Marshals team that won just one game in 2009.
