Disaster averted: Murray State holds off SIUE 67-61

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Ed Daniel pulled down 14 rebounds and scored eight points to help Murray State take a 67-61 victory over SIU-Edwardsville on Wednesday night.

The Racers (14-6) went ahead for good with about 3½ minutes to go when Daniel made a layup to make it 60-58.

B.J. Jenkins led Murray State with 14 points while Isacc Miles and Isaiah Canaan each added 10.

The Cougars (5-18) led by as many as five points midway through the second half, but the Racers made a 10-0 run to pull ahead. The Cougars tied it once more down the stretch but never led again.

Cornelius Chatt led the game in scoring with 24 points for SIU-Edwardsville while Corey Wickware added 16. Nikola Bundalo pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds for the Cougars.
