Eastern Kentucky looking to capture OVC crown

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Eastern Kentucky is the preseason pick to win the Ohio Valley Conference's East Division, while Murray State and Southeast Missouri State are co-favorites in the West.
     
In a vote by league coaches and sports information directors, Eastern Kentucky garnered 128 points and 18 of a possible 24 first-place votes in the East balloting. Murray State and Southeast Missouri State received 117 points each in the West Division, though Southeast Missouri State had 13 first-place votes to Murray State's 11.
     
Eastern Kentucky, which hasn't won the league's regular-season title since 1979, returns four starters from a team that won a school-record 25 games last season.
     
Southeast Missouri State forward Tyler Stone was named preseason player of the year.
     
Defending league champion Belmont was picked to finish second in the East.
