Gridiron Glory's Top Players: Trevante Coleman

This year we asked every high school football coach in the Local 6 viewing area to vote for the top players in 2012.  The only rule was the coaches couldn't vote for their own players.  The coaches voted Paducah Tilghman linebacker Trevante Coleman #8 player of Gridiron Glory.

Last year in his sophomore season, Coleman came in as a relative unknown. He changed that quickly.

"We went into last year with Paducah Tilghman thinking that JD Harmon was the one that we had to look out for," Crittenden County coach Al Starnes said. "Next thing we know, we had this Coleman kid coming out of nowhere. He is a tremendous athlete."

Coaches say he started turning heads during Tilghman's opener with Lone Oak.

"Nobody blocked him," Reidland coach Shaun Thomas said. "He was in the backfield pretty much every play. If you get a player like that, where nobody can block him, it makes it hard to run anything on offense."

"We tried to block him with our fullbacks, and we couldn't handle him at all," Lone Oak coach Jack Haskins remembered. "Hopefully this year we can change that a little bit."

Tune in Tuesday at 10pm to find out who the coaches think is #7.
