High school basketball All-State teams announced
The high school basketball season has been wrapped up for about a month now. With that comes the season's all-state selections from the Courier-Journal in Louisville. And there were more than a handful to make the list from our area.
Paducah Tilghman's Chelsey Shumpert made the girls first team. She averaged 24 points, five assists, and four steals a game this season. She also broke the three-thousand point mark for her career this year.
On the third team, we have Murray's Janssen Starks, the senior averaged 25 points a game. And she eclipsed the two-thousand point mark for her career this season. On the honorable mention team, we have Marshall County's Taylor Meadows, who helped lead the Lady Marshals to the second round of the state tournament.
On the boys side, Hopkinsville's Jordan Majors received second team all-state honors. Majors averaged just under 22 points a game for the Tigers. Earning a spot on the third team was Fulton City's Jordan Miller. The 6'6" senior put up 21 points a game for the Bulldogs this season.
Several players made the boys honorable mention list, including Carlisle County's Marcus Burnett, Marshall County's Chase Clark, Patrick Hubert from St. Mary, and Hickman County's Eric Kerney. From the second region we had Trigg County's Deonquez Nance, and Jaqualis Matlock of Hopkinsville.
