Thursday night, Carbondale's school board removed the interim tag and made Nick Hill the Terriers' new head football coach.  Hill is well-known in southern Illinois after he was an award-winning quarterback at Du Quoin High School and Southern Illinois University.  Now that he's a head coach, he's turned to some familiar faces to join his staff.

Hill says he learned from his former coaches, Al Martin at Du Quoin and Jerry Kill at SIU, that he needed to have a loyal staff around him that he could trust.  His former teammates Larry Warner and Shawn Smith certainly fit that description. Hill says having that support staff behind him is invaluable.

"I knew I wanted to surround myself with guys I could trust," Hill said. "I've played with Shawn Smith. I've played with Larry Warner. I know those guys and that's important to me. I want guys around this program that are going to work hard and I know they'll do a good job."

Hill will make his head coaching debut August 30th when Carbondale travels to Murphysboro.
