Mayfield's Jackson being patient with recruiting process

Expect the recruiting process to slow down considerably for Mayfield Sr. Linebacker Jonathan Jackson -- at least on his end. Jackson has offers from Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, Eastern Kentucky and Murray State, but he told us today he plans to wait until the end of the season before he makes a decision. Jackson is also hoping with another great year that he'll eventually receive more offers.

Jackson has been a starter at Mayfield since he was a freshman. If all goes well this year, he'll leave Mayfield as the school's all-time leading rusher and tackler. His coach Joe Morris has been in the Mayfield football family, essentially, since birth. When Morris puts Jackson on Mayfield's Mt. Rushmore of football, you have to respect it as more than just "coach-speak."

"There have been a lot of great players that have come through here," Morris said. "When you talk about great players in the history of our school, Jonathan is definitely going to be mentioned as one of the top two or three. He's just a great kid.  A great kid in school, a great kid in the community."

Jackson and the Cardinals will open the 2012 season August 17th against Warren Central.
