DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - James Buescher is the surprise winner of the Nationwide Series opener at Daytona International Speedway.

Buescher was in 11th place as he rounded the final turn but dodged and weaved through a massive wreck involving all the leaders.

Tony Stewart charged to the top of the track to make a run at the lead. He was being pushed by Elliott Sadler, and their run made it three-wide across the track.

It appeared leader Kurt Busch began to drive up the track to block the two lanes of traffic, and it triggered an 11-car accident. Buescher drove low through the accident and around the spinning cars to win his first NASCAR race.

Buescher's victory came a day after unknown John King won the Truck Series season-opener.
