Lone Oak invited to prestigious summer football tournament

Dubbed by some “the fastest three days in high school
football,” the 2010 National Select 7on7 Championships has almost arrived. The double-elimination tournament brings together players and coaches from thirty-two of the nation’s top high school football programs during July 22-24 in Hoover, Ala.

Many new changes highlight the 2010 National Select 7on7 Championships this year. Chief among those, a new way to share the football action with fans: live webcasting. An estimated 4 million fans will now have accesss to all games and news conferences via the National Select
7on7 website (www.select7on7.com). This year’s event will also feature a SPARQ Team Challenge, presented by Nike™. National Select 7on7 event coordinators have also streamlined media accommodations this year with the addition of a new media room and product showcase
seminar. The news conference takes place Thursday, July 22, from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. at Hoover’s new Embassy Suites Hotel, 2960 John Hawkins Parkway.

Hoover High School’s Buccaneer Stadium (1000 Buccaneer Drive, Hoover, Ala. 352444) and nearby Regions Park (100 Ben Chapman Drive, Birmingham, Ala. 35244) will serve as play sites once again this year.

The National Select 7on7, now in its 8th year, has become the largest and most prestigious of any 7on7 event. The event is hosted by the famed Hoover High School, the #1 ranked prep football program in the US as calculated by fan and web data. The tournament has seen more than 140 of the best high school football programs and players over the past decade, players who comprise an alumni roster that reads like a “WHO’s WHO” of college and NFL All Americans/All Pro players.
