McCracken County announces new basketball coaches
PADUCAH, KY -- In October McCracken County High School announced the coaches for the Fall semester sports. On Monday the Boy's and Girl's basketball coaches were announced as well.
Guiding the Boy's team next season will be current Heath head coach Burlin Brower. Brower coached the Pirates for 16 seasons leading them to 86 wins in the past five years. In 2010, Brower was named Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.
"I think our toughest challenge will be competing with the larger schools across the state," Brower said. "For those who know me, they know that I am a tough coach who expects a lot out of his team."
"If we can get the guys together tonight that would be great," said Brower. "I want to get right to work on next season. If we can get these guys in soon, then we can get to work on our weight program."
As for the Girl's team, Lone Oak's Joshua Barnett was tabbed to lead the Lady Mustangs next season. Barnett has 15 years of coaching experience and is a 3-time Regional Coach of the Year. Over the last two seasons he has helped the Lady Flash to 43 wins and 2 Regional Tournament appearances.
"It's a dream job for me to be able to start this program," Barnett said. "My goal is to have these girls competing on a high level as soon as we can. Our style of play may be similar to what we ran at Lone Oak but a good coach is able to make changes depending on his players."
