Murray State's Mushatt won't get sixth-year of eligibility

About six weeks ago, Murray State senior forward LaTreze Mushatt ruptured his Achilles tendon. That injury will force him to miss a big chunk of the 2012-13 season.  The initial thought was Murray State could apply to the NCAA to get an injury waiver so Mushatt could get a sixth-year of eligibility.
 
It now appears that won't happen.
 
Murray State coach Steve Prohm told us today his compliance department said getting the sixth-year is essentially impossible. Prohm said the sixth-year is generally given to kids who need to redshirt twice because of injury. Mushatt already redshirted once when he transferred to Murray State two years ago.
 
So without a chance to redshirt again, the question now is when will Mushatt be back on the court.  Prohm said Mushatt is ahead of schedule in his rehab, even though he'll be in a walking boot for a while.  Prohm said the goal is to get Mushatt back by February -- although if he continues to stay ahead of schedule, he might be back a little sooner.
