Racers getting acclimated to Alaska weather
Murray State arrived in Anchorage, Alaska early Tuesday for this week's Great Alaska Shootout. After getting hit with the -20 degree wind chill as they got off the bus, the Racers were also greeted by some local flavor as they entered their hotel. The team was met by a 12-foot stuffed Kodiak bear. Needless to say, it was picture time for the Racers.
Murray State is a team consisting mostly of kids from the southern states. Ivan Aska, who is from Florida, said he is wearing about a dozen layers to try to stay warm. Junior forward LaTreze Mushatt, who is from Michigan, says so far the cold hasn't been a big deal to him and he is making fun of his teammates for not being able to handle it.
The Racers will play Alaska-Anchorage in the opener of the Great Alaska Shootout Wednesday at 9:30pm CST.
