MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Stephon Turner scored 23 points to lead Humboldt past Lake County 61-58 Saturday in the Class A boys Tennessee final, its first state championship since the AA crown in 1976.

Turner, the tournament MVP, had 13 second-half points, including four free throws in the final 30 seconds. Desonte Bradford added 16 points and seven rebounds for Humboldt (29-6), which kept Lake County (10-24) from becoming the first Tennessee team with a losing record to win a state crown.

Humboldt led 34-23 at halftime, but Lake County rallied to tie it at 44-44 with 6:50 left in the game. Treyvon Brown hit two free throws with 1:03 left to put Humboldt up 55-54, and Turner's four consecutive free throws helped seal it.

Devon Jones led Lake County with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Zay Coleman added 22 points.

Alex Fountain of Wartburg Central was named the Class A Mr. Basketball.
