UT Martin looking for first OVC softball title since 2009

MARTIN, Tenn. – The 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship field is set. UT Martin, who won its second conference regular-season title in the past three seasons, earned the No. 1 seed and the right to host the three-day event which will be held May 10-12.

Eastern Illinois earned the No. 2 seed followed by Jacksonville State, Murray State, Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee Tech.

As the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, UT Martin and Eastern Illinois receive first-round byes.

All action is set for Bettye Giles Field in Skyhawk Park on the UT Martin campus.

THURSDAY, MAY 10

Game 1 - #3 Jacksonville State vs. #6 Tennessee Tech – 10 a.m.
Game 2 - #4 Murray State vs. #5 Eastern Kentucky – 12:30 p.m.
Game 3 - #2 Eastern Illinois vs. Game 1 winner – 3 p.m.
Game 4 - #1 UT Martin vs. Game 2 winner – 5:30 p.m.

FRIDAY, MAY 11
Game 5 – Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser – 10 a.m.
Game 6 – Game 5 winner vs. Game 3 loser – 12:30 p.m.
Game 7 – Game 4 winner vs. Game 3 winner – 3 p.m.
Game 8 – Game 4 loser vs. Game 6 winner – 5:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, MAY 12
Game 9 – Game 8 winner vs. Game 7 loser – 10 a.m.
Game 10 – Game 7 winner vs. Game 9 winner – 12:30 p.m.
