MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team (No. 15), the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference regular season champions and the OVC Tournament champs, received the league’s automatic bid in the NCAA Championship and will face off against Tennessee (No. 2), the Southeastern Conference Champion in the first round at Allstate Arena in Chicago.

The Skyhawks and the Lady Vols will play at 3:10 p.m., Saturday, March 17.

The winner of Saturday’s game will move on to take on the winner of the No. 7 DePaul vs. No. 10 BYU in the second round on Monday, March 19 in Chicago.

This is UT Martin’s second consecutive NCAA appearance. The Skyhawks were the No. 15 seed in the Philadelphia Region in 2011, and they played No. 2 Duke.

UT Martin holds a 2-13 all-time record against Tennessee, with the only two victories coming in 1971 and 1972, during Pat Summitt’s playing career.
