It appears Murray State assistant basketball coach Steve Prohm is one of the frontrunners to replace Billy Kennedy. Aside from being the guy who has sat by Kennedy all these years holding a clipboard, what do we know about Prohm?
Prohm knows the program. He knows the players. He knows Kennedy's system. Kennedy's right hand man has never been a head coach at the college level, but Prohm has followed the newly introduced leader of the Texas A&M Aggies everywhere he's gone. Two years at Centenary. then six years at southeastern Louisiana.
They split for one season in 2005. Kennedy went to the Miami Hurricanes. Prohm went to the Tulane Green Wave. Then they reunited at Murray State.
Kennedy is quoted in Murray State's media guide as saying, 'Steve is like another head coach on our staff.' Racer players have expressed support for Prohm on Twitter.
Now Murray State athletic director Allen Ward will determine where Prohm's career goes from here. Will Prohm continue to roam the sidelines at Murray's largest bank? Or will he once again follow Kennedy to another new job?
