Avon, OH - The Miners defeated the Lake Erie Crushers by a score of 5-4.  Cody Hall pitched in a no-decision as he went five innings and gave up four hits.  He walked three batters and struck out two.  Miners reliever Ryan Quigley earned his first win of the season.

The Miners got on the board first in the top of the fifth inning off Crushers starter Paul Fagan.  After a leadoff double by Carlos Mendez, Ken Gregory got on base via an error by second baseman J.C. Figueroa to move Mendez to third.  Jason Ganek struck out, but a base hit by Will Block gave the Miners a 1-0 lead.

The Crushers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning off Miners reliever Dave Whigham to take a 3-1 lead over the Miners.  The Miners came back in the top of the eighth inning as Sean Coughlin was hit by a pitch to start the inning.  Cannon Lester hit a base hit to move Coughlin over to second base.  With no outs, Darian Sandford walked to load the bases.  Jake Kaase hit a sacrifice fly to score Coughlin to bring the Miners within one run 3-2.   Cannon Lester advanced to third on the sacrifice fly which set up a stolen base by Darian Sandford to put two runners in scoring position.  With that stolen base, Sandford has 30 on the season.  Chad Maddox then cleared the bases with a two RBI double to give the Miners a 4-3 lead.  Ken Gregory then hit a two out base single to give the Miners a 5-3 lead.  Crushers starter Paul Fagan was charged with three runs total in his start.  Crushers reliever Travis Risser was charged with two.

After Quigley pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, the Crushers made it interesting in the ninth inning.  Albert Ayala walked the bases loaded and walked Crushers outfielder Daniel Bowman with two outs to make it a 5-4 game.  Anthony Collazo came in and faced Crushers catcher Brian Erie to strike him out to secure the 5-4 win for the Miners and earn his first save of the season.

Gabriel Shaw tossed a scoreless inning for the Miners.  With the win, the Miners enter the All-Star Break at 29-19, three games behind the Traverse City Beach Bums in the Eastern Division.  The Miners are off and will not return to action until Friday July 13th at Rent One Park against Joliet Slammers.
