So far, my picks are 11-1.  But who's counting.  Then again, this and a nickel will get me....well, a nickel.

With that being said, here are my picks for six of the better games this Friday night.

Lone Oak at Calloway County

This has turned into one of the best and most heated rivalries in the area the last few years.  Last year, Calloway County saw a chance to knock off Lone Oak slip away in the final seconds.  This year, the Flash travel to Rose Stadium looking for a fourth win in three years against their district rivals in the two teams district opener.  This is a huge game because there are just three teams in the Class 4A 1st district with Muhlenberg County making the jump to 6A.  So the winner has the upper hand at the district title.  We all know about the melee Calloway was involved in last Friday at Fulton County.  The KHSAA has finally handed down their decision and the Lakers will be shorthanded.  We're just not positive who will be missing from the team.  The Lakers had three players suspended for one game each, but there has been no word on who and what game they'll miss.  Either way, I'm not sure the Lakers have the firepower to keep up with Lone Oak this year.  The Flash received a scare two weeks ago at Graves County.  I think that re-focused this team.  There will be no worry for any kind of letdown considering the rivalry here.  I'm taking the Flash.  Lone Oak 56, Calloway County 13

Heath at Caldwell County

Barring a major upset, the district title is Murray's to lose.  With that being said, second place is up for grabs.  Trigg County took a big step towards securing second place and a home playoff game with a win at Caldwell County last Friday.  The Tigers need a win over Heath to remain in the conversation.  The Pirates were beat by 20 at Union County last Friday in a game that featured a lot of mistakes.  I see Heath correcting those mistakes this Friday, but will it be enough?  I say no.  I like the fight Caldwell has shown, despite being shorthanded the last couple of weeks.  Caldwell County 27, Heath 25

Massac County at Herrin

The Patriots have a chance to all but wrap up the SIRR Ohio Division title with a win at Herrin.  That's a lot easier said than done.  Herrin has won six straight and eight of their last ten against Massac.  Could this be the year the Patriots break through?  All signs point to yes.  Massac has won five straight since their season opening loss to Crittenden County.  Herrin is just 2-3 and have a two-touchdown loss to Harrisburg, the same Harrisburg team Massac beat 29-28 a few weeks ago.  Good news for Herrin, the game is at home where they are nearly unbeatable.  Still, I really like Massac in this spot.  I think this is finally the year they get Herrin.  Massac County 30, Herrin 27

Paducah Tilghman at Union County

Union County just beat Heath by 20 last Friday.  Paducah Tilghman destroyed Webster County 60-6.  Does this mean Tilghman is back on track?  Better wait until we make a decision on that one.  Last year, the Tornado destroyed Webster County, only to have to forfeit the game later in the season for an ineligible player.  That was all part of a 2-8 season.  The Tornado are currently 3-4 and have a great opportunity to win their remaining three games to enter the playoffs on a five-game winning streak.  I think this is a game that could really jump-start their season in a positive direction.  Tilghman 28, Union County 21

Henderson County at Graves County

At the beginning of the season, no one would have thought Graves County would have a shot at the district title.  But after a 2-0 start in the district, the Eagles are in that spot.  They'll face their toughest district test to date on Friday, but the good news is it's at the friendly confines of Eagle Field. Graves has been one of the most pleasant surprises this year, playing both Mayfield and Lone Oak tough before falling.  If the Eagles can control the ball and the clock, they have a great chance to knock off the Colonels, who were district favorites in many eyes at the start of the season.  A win here would all but lock up a playoff spot for the Eagles and put them in prime position to challenge for the district title.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure they'll be able to pull it off.  I really like the Eagles, but Henderson is very talented.  They are 4-2 with their only two losses coming to state ranked Christian County and Indiana powerhouse Evansville Reitz.  I think they have a little too much for the Eagles.  Henderson 29, Graves County 15

Humboldt at Union City

Union City (4-2) needs two or three wins in their final four games to ensure a return trip to the playoffs.  A few weeks ago, we thought the Golden Tornadoes were a challenger for the state title.  That may still be the case down the road.  But UC needs to find their swagger again.  They stormed out of the gates with 48-0 and 45-6 wins and had a huge third quarter lead against Huntingdon.  That's where things started to unravel.  They blew that lead and lost 44-35.  Two weeks later, they lost at Trinity Christian 31-21.  They may have got back on track last week with a 31-0 win over Greenfield, but Humboldt will be a much tougher foe.  The Vikings are 4-3 against a tough schedule that includes a 27-6 loss to defending state champ Henry County (who is unbeaten in 2009.)  The good news, the game is at home for UC.  I think that gives them the edge.  Union City 29, Humboldt 21
