Bidwell's Blog: 9/17 Gridiron Glory preview
So I spent a solid hour last night prepping for and recording another scintillating edition of "The Sideline Show." When I got done, I found out something had gone wrong with the recording and it was unusable. Technology rules!
With that said, here's a Cliff's Notes version of what we talked about getting ready for this weekend's high school football action. There are a few games on the schedule that jump out to me.
#1 Mayfield at Graves County
The Eagles have been up and down so far this season. It started with a solid first half against Trousdale County before things fell apart. After blowing out Muhlenberg County, the Eagles went to Paducah Tilghman and never had a chance losing 42-6.
Mayfield has not only been winning games, but crushing teams. Take away that fantastic OT game with Paducah Tilghman, and the Cardinals have beaten Marshall County, Trigg County and Calloway County by an average of 40 points. I don't expect a 40 point win tonight, but the Cardinals should win going away.
#9 Fort Campbell at #5 Paducah Tilghman
Tonight, though, is really a huge game for Tilghman.
A win tonight and they can finish the first half of their year at 3-2. Randy Wyatt said before the year he thought it was extremely important to get off to a good start this season. I think a 3-2 start against their tough schedule would qualify as a good start, especially considering their a 4th quarter collapse at Hopkinsville and an OT loss at Mayfield from being 4-0 right now. I like Tilghman at home tonight in a close, high-scoring affair.
#3 Lone Oak at Caldwell County
Caldwell has one of the better running backs in the area in Brandon Sigler. He's already rushed for 354 yards in three games this year, averaging about six yards a carry. If Lone Oak can control him, this game will be over early. I'm just not sure they can. Lone Oak should win, but I expect this one to be a bit closer than most people would think.
We've got 12 games in all tonight on Gridiron Glory. As always, if you miss the show, you can check it out on WPSDLocal6.com.
As for my "Fantastic Four" football picks last week, I went 2-2. It certainly could've been worse. Here are this week's "Fantastic Four". Remember, these are for entertainment purposes only...as if I could possibly entertain any of you.
Ohio at Ohio State -29'
Marshall at Bowling Green +3
Louisville at Oregon State -20'
Buffalo at Green Bay -12'
That's all for today. Off to get ready for the show. Depending how I'm feeling tonight, we might have a quick Gridiron Glory recap tonight after the show with a special edition of "The Sideline Show." We'll see. Have a great weekend!
