Murray fans get first look at new team during Racer Fan Jam
MURRAY, KY -- Heading into Thursday nights Racer Fan Jam, Murray State fans didn't know what to expect from a team they have never seen play together before. And after the night was over, the majority of those in attendance came away satisfied with what they saw.
"I saw a team that looks like they could be really good," said Racer fan Joe Darnall. "They look really athletic and some of them can really play."
"I think it may be tough at first," said Quent Smith, a lifelong Racer fan. "But by the time conference play roles around, they should be in a great spot."
With six new players and a brand new starting lineup, fans got to see who could replace players like Isaiah Canaan and Ed Daniel. Surprisingly, the player who stuck out was true freshman point guard Cameron Payne.
"I think he could be the best true freshman in the OVC this year," Darnall said.
"He can really handle the ball," said Smith. "And he looks like he can make the outside shot as well."
But there were some other newcomers who turned some heads.
"I liked Jonathan Fairell," said Barry Paschall, a Racer fan. "He is a big kid and can help down low. Another guy I saw that impressed me was Jarvis Williams. He can really jump and is very athletic."
The next time the fans will see the team will be during a game setting when Murray State plays Freed-Hardeman during an exhibition game on November 2nd.
