Isaiah Canaan returned for his senior season aiming to help Murray State build on last year's breakout performance and hone his guard skills for the NBA.

His game has certainly developed, which the Racers will need even more if they hope to return to the NCAA tournament.

They enter Friday's Ohio Valley Conference semifinal needing to win their second straight tournament championship to secure an automatic bid. Such urgency seemed unlikely when Murray State began the year, but a 10-6 league mark left the Racers (20-9) second to regular season champion Belmont and needing to run the table this weekend.

Canaan embraces the challenge and responsibility, two reasons he returned to school. Those qualities will definitely be necessary with him projected as a possible first-round NBA draft pick.
